Behind 'meipel lies the experience of over 90 years of family history in the bicycle industry. Since 1934, the Bachtenkirch family has been dedicated to bicycles – with over 8 million bikes sold and now in its fourth generation, it is one of Germany's most traditional cycling families. In 2023, 'meipel was founded by product designer Bonnie Bachtenkirch to bring this concentrated expertise to today's world of children's bikes. She is supported by the managing director, her father, Ralf Bachtenkirch.
Inspired by the vastness and freedom of Canada, our bicycles stand for a spirit of adventure, connection with nature, and the highest quality. The name 'meipel is derived from the English word "maple" – a symbol of our roots and the lightness of our bikes.
