A helpful trick is to place a book between their legs (up to the crotch) and then measure the distance from the floor to the top edge of the book in centimeters. This inseam length should be compared with the minimum saddle height of the desired bicycle. If the child can already ride confidently, the saddle can be set slightly higher than the inseam length.

For example, the AERO Gravel Bike with its drop-bar handlebars is less suitable for the daily commute to school with a backpack.
